Rain, Pain and lots of trains

Some of us had a decent sleep, zak and i had 6-7 hours, colin and jazz had 4-5 hours and Paul and Anya got up with the sun at 4:30am with a measly 3.5 hours sleep. We got ourselves ready and went for a wonder. We started with the government metropolitan building to see a breath taking view of the city and had a wander to a park with a beautiful water feature we'd spotted from the observatory. We then head to team labs but it was sold out for the day so booked for when we return to Tokyo at the end of our trip. Then hunger hit and we ventured to shibuya in the rain and found a little place to have some local food. Got a lot of tasty food but decided to get a little experimental and Colin got chicken gizzards, I got pork livers and jazz got a beautiful looking pickled ginger drink. When we finished filling our bellies we went out in the pouring rain and decided to change the plans.

we decided that we'd spilt up and the tired crew could go home and have a nap and the other 3 would head to the airport to collect the pocket wifi. We parted at shibuya train station and off Zak colin and I went. Thinking it was a 3 hour round trip we were in high spirits.....little did we know what was to come. Obviously we got lost so we asked for some local help and a few trains and hours later we ended up on the correct but very slow train to the airport. Then realisation set in that we might not make it before it closes and we had already been travelling 3+ hours, I don't the locals appreciated our hysteria on the trains and at one point all 3 of us were crying real tears from the laughter. After manic platform changes and Zak sprinting through the airport we missed it by 20 mins. Yes 5 hours travel to miss it by 20 mins... we parted at 15.48 and got back on the train at the airport at 19:48. I am writing this on our 1.5 hour train journey back to shinjuku to meet the other half of the group and go and eat and drink to our failings.
