24 Hours and only one important question, Chicken or Beef?
The day started with the optimism one could expect from a group about to go on holiday. The sun was shining bright and it was 10 o'clock on Wednesday morning (this information will become relevant by the end so stay with me).
We were ferried to the airport (koo-ko in Japanese) by my uncle and my mam and after what seemed to be the weirdest route we arrived at our first flight. A painless goodbye (with not a tear shed by either party - thanks mam!) we departed to check in and grabbed ourselves a pint.
The airport wait flew over (pardon the pun) and we boarded, all eyes on our flight virgin, Paul.
Take off was fine and if he was nervous he hid it like a champ (video evidence may suggest he had a case of the old Elvis knee). A short stay in our seats and the realization began to dawn on us that we were going to be doing this for hours.
The two flights were 8 and 10 hours respectively with a cheeky 2 hours in Dubai Airport thrown in the middle to try and freshen us up (any keen mathematicians can add the 4 hours in the airport waiting area at Newcastle and work out how long it has taken us to get here). You'd think with all that in-flight time, that we'd have powered through so many films and tv series, however each of us still has unfinished business with a show or blockbuster here and there - Anya even managing to fit in Shrek the Third TWICE as she didn't pay enough attention the first time round.
Over to the important details that everyone will be wondering. The flight food was pleasant and the choices were decent all things considering, chicken or beef for breakfast, lunch and tea.
We are currently traveling by train to our Airbnb - having just been informed that we will be experiencing a 10 minute delay for a safety inspection. We're a little worse for wear and hoping for maybe a nice meal and a bed.
Perhaps something with chicken or beef?
Zak
